An enterprise network connects an organization’s offices, data centres, cloud resources, and other digital infrastructure under common administrative control. Internal traffic can follow rules that are quite different from those governing interactions with the public Internet.
Its boundary protects organizational coherence by controlling which internal resources become externally reachable and which external flows are admitted. A sufficiently independent enterprise may maintain its own routing policy and connections to several outside networks.
